narrator: "Oh Nelly, maybe if I look at the house it will seem more lively. I am getting an eerie feeling. I wonder why Rodrick has asked me to come. We haven't spoken in years"
The contagious disease
Rodrick: "Oh thank goodness you have come. I have been waiting for your arrival" Narrator: "Rodrick, you have changed so much. It has been so long. How have you been?" Rodrick: "Shhhhhhh, whisper you darned fool. MY HEAD MY HEAD"
Lady Madeline returns
The narrator attempts to cheer up Rodrick with painting and listening to his favorite music. However, the narrator begins to realize how psychedelic these paintings are. The music is mellow and brings about the feeling of death. Rodrick falls deeper and deeper into his state of disease.
The Final Fall
Rodrick rocks back and fourth insisting that there are spirits in the room. The narrator picks up a book to calm Rodrick, however he begins to hear what he reads. The narrator begins to go insane as well. Their minds go blank and are controlled.
Lady Madeline is alive and covered in blood. Rodrick is killed from the fear of the reality that she is living. He can no longer handle the burden. Madeline tackles him to the ground but he is already dead from fear.
The narrator flees from the house. The house of Usher crumbles and spirits fly all around. The House of Usher is now closed.
