The children were matched for agression levels on a scale of 1 -5 (0.89)
Modelling the Behaviour
The study used an independent measures design and three independent variables were tested: 1.Behaviour of Model 2. The sex of the model 3. The sex of the children
The participants were placed into 3 conditions: 1. Aggressive Model 2. Non-aggressive Model 3. Control Group In some cases the models was the same-sex or opposite-sex
Testing for delayed imitation
Each child was brought into a room and invited to play, they observed the additional adult interacting with toys.
Types of Aggression
To annoy the children they were takne into another room with very attractibve toys and then told they could no longer play with them.
The experimenter stayed in the room but busied herself with paperwork and two other observers watched through a one-way mirror- these people were unaware what condition the child was in - eliminating bias.
Three types of aggression was recorded by the observer : 1. imitative aggression 2. Partially Imitative aggression 3. Non-imitative aggression
