  • Once Upon A Time between the 5th and 11th centuries,many a German landed on the England shoreline

  • The Germans soon adapted to the British lifestyle, although their language was complex and the tea was weak. they soon manipulated the British language to suit their own, Before the Germans arrived Britain was inhabited by Celtic Language speakers
  • This is sehr toll!
  • Here are some examples of words from old English still used today
  • Ale, Hammer, udder, evening, itch, plough, pretty, yawn, walk, young, sister, needle
  • Nouns, pronouns, adjectives and determiners were fully inflected with five grammatical cases (nominative, accusative, genitive, dative, and instrumental), two grammatical numbers (singular and plural) and three grammatical genders (masculine, feminine, and neuter)
  • Anglo-Saxon uses a morphological system, it also used typical German grammer such as the Umlaut
  • Verbs in Old English are divided into strong and weak verbs. Strong verbs indicate tense by a change in the quality of a vowel, while weak verbs indicate tense by the addition of an -ed ending. We don't say 'i runned' but we do say ' I baked
  • I ran all the way back to my hut (simple sentence)
  • The English language has changed a lot throughout the years lets see what it's like in the future!
