Storyboard Text

  • 3.4 GPA 1450 SAT Got into college
  • 3.7 GPA 1530 SAT Did not get into college
  • Why didn't I get in?!
  • 1997, Barbara Gruter does not make it into Michigan Law School. She suspects it is from her race.
  • Murphy and Ernest Law Group
  • She decides to file a civil lawsuit over a violation of the 14th amendment.
  • I didn't get into the college I wanted to just because I'm white. I'm more qualified than most, I should've gotten in.
  • I agree. We will file a civil lawsuit over a violation of the 14th amendment. You deserve an opportunity like everyone else, along with equal rights.
  • As long as the school looks through the admissions very carefully, they're allowed to do as they please. They have the right to admit whomever they want.
  • She loses the case because the schools were not being irresponsible in the opinions of the justices.
  • My client has been racially profiled ans has not been accepted into the school of her dreams even though she was qualified. It should be made illegal to let someone in based on race.
  • These types of policies are called affirmative action. These policies allow colleges to admit students based on race as a means of having a diverse student body.
  • This affects students as ones who are more qualified cannot be admitted because of their race. These policies mainly affect white and asian students.
  • The justices ruled that diversity in college campuses is a positive thing, and as long as the schools with these policies looked through all of the of the applications very carefully.
  • Students today have to worry about not getting into their dream school. Students need to know if they really have a fair chance. This can affect the futures of many studentts.
  • Multiple states have now outlawed the affirmative actions policies as a mean of equal rights. These policies do not affect as many people as they used to.
  • Princeton University Admissions Sadly, you will not be attending Princeton University next year as you are not a minority.
  • As an initiative to have more diversity, you cannot be selected as space for minority students is needed. Thank you.
