Cesar Chavez was born and was the second of the five children.
Cesar Chavez grew up on a farm with 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Because of the great depression it caused his father the farm. Cesar's family became migrant workers. They moved from farm to farm in California looking for work.
Because he moved so often he didn't go to school in a few short years he attended 35 different schools. One time when he didn't speak English a teacher made him wear a sign saying "I'm a clown. I speak Spanish. "
"Cesar Chavez joined the U.S navy in 1944 and served for two years until he was honorably discharged and married to his long time sweetheart Helen Fabela.
"Inspired by Fred Ross, a well known community organizer, Cesar quit the lumber yard and became a full time organizer for the (CSO) Community Services Organization.
