Storyboard Text

  • Hello! I am Ian Igneous but most people call me Stony because I will change throughout my life.
  • Oh no! I'm breaking up into pieces.
  • Help! the ocean is sweeping me away.
  • Let's start my journey through my life which is known as the "Rock Cycle"
  • I'm sinking
  • Weathering breaks me up in sand and gravel called sediments.
  • Yuk! All this stuff is stuck on me and I feel like I am being squeezed.
  • This proces of the rock cycle is called erosion. It is the movement of sediments by the wind, rain, air and ice
  • Feel like I am getting hot under the collar.
  • The sediments sink to the bottom and laid down in layers during deposition, forming layers of sediment.
  • Compaction squeezes all the layers together, while cementation causes the sediment to bind together with clay and minerals. I am now a sedimentary rock.
  • Deep down in the Earth's crust rocks are put under intense pressure and very high tempatures. This can change the minerals within the rock. I am now a metaphoric rock.
