  • After winning their independence from Spain in 1821, Mexico started to welcome large numbers of American Immigrants. These immigrants didn't adapt to the Mexican culture and stayed American
  • Battle of the Alamo
  • In 1835 Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna became dictator of Mexico. He believed the Texans would ruin him and try to take over Mexico or secede. ("Those Texans!!!")
  • Battle of San Jacinto

  • On October 2, 1835, the battle of Gonzales broke out because the Mexicans were coming to take a cannon they had lent to Texas back. The Texans refused, saying "Come and take it" the Mexicans retreated
  • State of Texas
  • The battle of the Alamo took place, not surprisingly, at the Alamo. the Texans were outnumbered at least 9 to 1, and after holding out for 13 days, the Mexicans killed every last one of them.
  • In the battle of San Jacinto, the Texans launched a sneak attack during the siesta period of the day. In just 18 minutes, almost 700 Mexicans were dead, and the battle was over.
  • After awhile, Texas joined America as a state. It had to wait for a few years though because there wasn't a free state that could join with it.
