Victor succeeds in bringing his monster to life.
"Oh! No mortal could support the horror of that countenance. A mummy again endued with animation could not be so hideous as that wretch."
Out of excitement and disgust at his creation, he runs from the apartment.
"Like one who, on a lonely road, doth walk in fear and dread, and, having once turned round, walks on, and turns no more his head; because he knows a frightful fiend doth close behind him tread."
"My dear Frankenstein!"
[Enter Henry Clerval] Henry finds Victor wandering through the streets of Ingolstadt.
"I stepped fearfully in: the apartment was empty, and my bedroom was also freed from its hideous guest."
They go back to Victor's apartment and find the monster to be gone.
Victor is joyed from his disappearance of this and falls in relief of the release of anxiety from his creation.
Victor becomes ill with a fever, so for the rest of the winter and spring, Henry nurses him back to health.
"Dearest Clerval, how kind, how very good you are to me."
