  • He MUST confess, this shall look poorly on me if he do otherwise. That would be of no good.
  • Ay, do I save myself and give them the satisfaction of being right, or die a martyr.
  • He must confess, he will be sentenced otherwise. ay, no man deserves to die innocently.
  • John Proctor, have you ever seen the devil? Have you ever conjured the devil?
  • Ay... ay, sir. I have.
