You could hear the yelling from 20 blocks away. Our favorite night, that we had waited for a long time had an unexpected turn. Everyone was crying and screaming. I can still sometimes hear the shrieks.
It was January 1st around 3 in the morning and we were having a party at my grandma's house. We had spent the night laughing, dancing, eating and just enjoying ourselves and the end to another year.
Remember that time when we were kids....
It had been a long and fun night and it was time to go home. My aunt, uncle, were all walking home very tired but very happy and glad that all the family had got together and we saw everyone. With busy lives and living far away from each other this was one of the only times we would get together. New years is my favorite holiday.
Just as we were about to turn at the corner we saw my uncle and he told my aunt and uncle something but we didn't quite hear what it was.
When we ran inside the house we saw that my aunt had suffered a heart attack and she was no longer with us.
I had never felt so shocked and scared in my life. This had taken us by such a surprise.
This experience has taught me a lot, including to always appreciate the people in my life who daily help me and make a better person. It has taught me that life can change in seconds and you have to learn to say sorry even if you are right. It has taught me not to leave my house mad at anyone because you never know what can happen .
