  • "Whatcha looking at?"
  • "I don't know, Scout. We better get home."
  • "What's he doing?"
  • "Cal" "Can you come down the sidewalk a minute?"
  • "What for, Jem? I can't come down the sidewalk every time you want me."
  • “Are you telling me a story, Jem Finch?”
  • While Jem and Scout are playing outside playing with their air rifles they see a dog in the distance.
  • “No Cal, I swear I’m not.”
  • Jem and Scout do not know what the dog is doing so they decide to go home to tell Calpurnia.
  • “I haven’t shot a gun in thirty years—”

  • Atticus is arrived and the townspeople are there as well worried, and Mr. Tate is telling him to shoot the dog.
  • “For God’s sake, Mr. Finch, look where he is! Miss and you’ll go straight into the Radley house! I can’t shoot that well and you know it!”
