Enkidu tells Gilgamesh about his dream in the underworld. After 12 days Enkidu passes away. Gilgamesh decides to go on a quest to find eternal life because he is afraid to die.

Gilgamesh comes upon lions which he fights and kills during his quest.
The man-scorpions allow Gilgamesh to pass through the mountains after explaining his quest to find eternal life because no mortal man has ever asked or has gone through.
After passing through the mountain, Gilgamesh enters the Garden of the gods and meets Siduri. Siduri tells him that he will never have eternal life, therefore he should just enjoy life while he can. Siduri then leads him to the ferryman so he can take him to Dilmun.
After crossing the river with the ferryman, Gilgamesh arrives at Dilmun where he meets Utnapishtim. Utnapishtim tells him if he wanted eternal life he would have to stay awake for 12 days and nights which he failed to do.
Utnapishtim tells Gilgamesh about the story of the flood. He also tells Gilgamesh about a secret plant that brings peoples youth back.
