  • I have a plan that will help us win...
  • Are you sure this will work Odysseus?
  • I have a feeling it will.
  • What is this?
  • It could be a gift from the Greeks for our victory.
  • The Trojan war was a long, hard battle, that lasted ten years. It was Odysseus, one of the Greeks, that came up with a plan that could end the war. His idea was to hide his soldiers in a wooden horse.  They were determined to win back Helen, the most beautiful women in the world.
  • I don't like it. We should destroy it.
  • The Greeks left the wooden horse outside the gates of Troy.  The Greeks then had a selection of chosen warriors that would hide in the hollow belly of the horse. They then left, as if they were leaving in defeat.
  • Let's celebrate our victory!!
  • When the Trojans saw the Greeks ships leaving, they were overjoyed. After the long years of battling, they could go outside the gates of Troy. When they went outside the gates of Troy, they found the wooden horse that the Greeks had left.
  • WE WON!
  • When a Trojan priest approached the horse, he declared that he disliked the horse. He suggested to King Priam that they burn and destroy it. The gods then got involved. Athena and Hera vowed to punish Troy, and they would not let them win, so they sent a huge serpent onto the shore. It attacked the priest's sons, and killed him. The Trojans took this as a sign that the gods were not pleased with the priests predictions.
  • lThe Trojans then dragged the wooden horse inside the gates of Troy. They were overjoyed with their hard-won victory,  and pleased with themselves.  Celebrating there victory, the were drinking, feasting, and dancing.
  • That night, when the Trojans were all asleep, the Greeks crept out of the belly of the horse. They then opened the gates of Troy to let in the army of Greeks who had sailed back that night. They killed all who challenged them, and they King Priam was slain. They ended up taking must women as slaves. The Greeks had finally won! They returned Helen to Sparta, were she was reunited with King Menelaus, her husband. The Greeks then set fire to Troy, making Hecuba's dream come true.
