The Jamestown colony was located in a swamp in Virginia which was the perfect soil for plants. The settlers soon started planting tobacco which could only thrive in the swamp but not back home so they started planting more and more.
We, the London Company. will make a huge profit from Jamestown.
Since King James wasn't able to keep track of both England and for Jamestown, he decided to have it ruled by the others, the people of Jamestown.Virginia became a representative government which allowed people to select their own representatives.
Why is it surprising Jamestown succeeded?
The reason it is so surprising Jamestown was a success is that of all the setbacks and complications that went along with the settlement, one being the Location. Since the settlement of Jamestown was at a swamp, the chance of a virus or plague heightened. Also, the numbers of men vastly overtook those of women since there weren't any. Finally, some of the colonists were practically useless such as the gentlemen who didn't like using there hands.
The Powhatan was an Indian tribe who were notable for their involvement in Jamestown. The most famous of them was Pocahontas who was known for her involvement in the saving of John Smith.

Jamestown was originally meant to help the economy of the London company or make money for them. Then it soon became the first permanent settlement for the English people which started from planting.
I will now be using Jamestown for planting and settling.
