  • So you want to be a clinical psychologist?
  • I can handle that! But what are the skills?
  • To be a clinical psychologist, you need to cope with people who have mental issues such as depression
  • You also need to learn a lot of techniques! such as Hypnotherapy!
  • You also have to understand diversity (that people are different), learn to ask open questions and able to look at your own experiences and how these affect others.
  • You'll need to listen, understand and reflect on the situation​ of others and help with solutions.
  • *These skills can be achieved through training
  • Then you have to apply for a place on a doctorate course. The course will last 3 years, and it's full time.
  • I've learnt the skills of​ being a clinical psychologist. So what are the qualifications?
  • You'll need a degree in Psychology by the British Psychological Society. To be qualified, you'll need to have relevant​ work experience
  • And, after completed the doctorate in clinical psychology, most people enter the profession by getting a job as a trainee clinical psychologist in the NHS.
