Aerobic Endurance is the ability of the Cardio-respiratory system to work efficiently supplying nutrients and oxygen to working muscles during sustained physical activity
The Forestry Step Test, is used to test aerobic fitness. Using a metronome the performer steps in time up and off a bench/steps.
The Multistage fitness test, is also used to test aerobic fitness. Conducted indoors between two cones at 20 meters apart. The performer must run between the two points reaching each point to an increasing beep.
When considering our first factor being cost, we can differentiate between the two tests where the MSFT is much cheaper than the FST. We know this because in the FST you need specific equipment for the test to be accurate an example being the equipment for male and female are specialised due to being different heights.
When thinking of Validity the MSFT can be described as a maximal test in comparison to the FST which is a sub-maximal test. Therefore, the MSFT will give you a valid score, where as the FST will not because there is no increase in the intensity.
When discussing the third factor we can consider specificity. The MSFT benefits you with it mimicking what the athletes are potentially doing in their events which is running. However, the FST is not as beneficial due to it using stepping actions which are not visible actions in the athletics events.
