Storyboard Text

  • ....Tell him Odysseus, raider of cities, took your eye.
  • Telemus foresaw my eye would be taken.
  • Always I had in mind some giant, armed in giant force... but you--small, pitiful and twiggy--you put me down with wine.
  • Leaving the island, Odysseus hastily tells Polyphemus his identity and home.
  • Come back, Odysseus, and I'll treat you well, praying the god of earthquake to befriend you.
  • If I could take your life away I would and take your time away, and hurl you down to hell! The god of earthquake could not heal you there.
  • Polyphemus describes that the seer Telemus predicted Polyphemus would lose his eye.
  • Polyphemus explains that he underestimated Odysseus.
  • O hear me, lord, blue girdler of the islands... grant that Odysseus, raider of cities, never see his home.
  • Polyphemus invites Odysseus back to the cave for a proper and customary stay.
  • Odysseus maliciously denies Polyphemus's invite.
  • Polyphemus prays to Poseidon to make Odysseus's return home difficult.
