Gilgamesh's Grand Journey
As retold by: Isabelle Lucero
I don't want to have to go and be in the underworld!!
Oh No! How could I ever go to the underworld!?
I have to find Utnapishtim the only mortal who has eternal life!!
After Enkidu died Gilgamesh went on a journey to try and find eternal life.
On his way to Utnapishtim, Gilgamesh encountered 3 lions and slayed all of them, he also met gods such as Shumash and Siduri.
Once Gilgamesh made it to Dilmun, which is where Utnapishtim lives, he told Utnapishtim what he wanted, immortality.
When Gilgamesh told Utnapishtim that he wanted eternal life Utnapishtim said that if he could stay awake for seven days and seven nights he would give him eternal life. Also to keep track of days he asked his wife to make one loaf of bread each day he was asleep. In addition to that they made a mark on the wall each day he was asleep.
He is going to try and deceive us and say he completed the challenge.
I cannot believe Gilgamesh has not woken up yet. The first piece of bread is already moldy!!
