Storyboard Text

  • So, you can't use that for a theme???!!!
  • Well, when you have identified the topic, you can use that to help you come up with a theme statement.
  • So, I need to figure out what is the relation between respect and the characters in the story and how the behavior of the little child helped the characters in the story grow and change, right?
  • How do you do that?
  • Since we know the topic is respect, we can use that to start working on a theme statement.
  • Well, the child's behavior makes his parents realize that one day they will get old and they might need help, and their behavior was a bad symbol to their son in which he will treat them the same as they treated his grandpa.
  • Good!! Now you have to make it into a general statement about life.
  • Exactly!
  • Hmmmm.. Like we should respect our elders? Or, wait. Old people deserve respect?
  • You have to take out the characters and plot. It has to be ablet o be applied to a different story and still make sense.
  • No.
  • Let's check it. Does it mention a character?
  • That is really good!!
  • That follows all the rules, so I think you have a good theme statement!
  • I think so!
  • Does talk about Plot? Could you say that it is true for another story?
  • No.
