Greg and Craig

Storyboard Text

  • Oh boy I can't wait to see my grade on this essay, I bet I did great! I've been working on it for over 2 weeks and have spent hours revising.
  • Uh oh....
  • F
  • Professor Greg, you can't give me this grade. I spent weeks on this paper and followed the writing process perfectly!
  • F
  • I'm sorry Craig, but I can only see and grade what you turn in to me. And that paper was very, very bad.
  • F
  • Okay, so how can I improve my writing? Like I said in the last panel, I followed the writing process...
  • Craig, I think it's time we go for a walk.
  • First of all, you need to drop the writing process. As an engineer, there are a multitude of situations that require you to write and no process can prepare you for all of them.
  • That makes sense, but I still don't know how to write any better.
  • Well you can start by writing as frequently as possible without delaying your final draft, and then getting feedback from me. The best way to improve something is through practice.
  • I know that, but what's the point of trying to write as quickly as possible when I could take my time on the paper?
  • When you move on past college, your employers will value what you are able to produce and how fast you can do so.
  • As an engineer, you'll spend the bulk of your time on calculations and in the end, you will simply write or communicate about what you have done or created.
  • Man this guy's smart!
