  • BRIAN *CAMERA MAN WALKS INTO SCENE, BRIAN IS SITTING ON A CHAIR LOOKING AT THE CAMERA*
  • Bee Endangerment: A Rising Threat to the Environment
  • SHIZA *CAMERA STAYS IN SAME POSITION, SHIZA ENTERS SCENE*
  • Bee Endangerment: A Rising Threat to the Environment
  • *CAMERA FOCUSES ON SHIZA AND BRIAN* SHIZA
  • Bee Endangerment: A Rising Threat to the Environment
  • In a loud and clear voice: "We’re all familiar with the fact that bees are crucial in the pollination of common crops that humans eat every day. Apples, peaches, coffee, and chocolate to name a few."
  • *CAMERA ZOOMS INTO BRIAN AND WHITEBOARD* BRIAN *SPINS AROUND ON SPINNING CHAIR AND STANDS UP TO FACE WHITEBOARD*
  • Bee Endangerment: A Rising Threat to the Environment Causes: 1. Pesticides 2. Radio Waves
  • That’s right Brian, and sadly these same bees are becoming endangered. According to the University of Maryland, 33% of bees cared for by US beekeepers were lost in the year of 2016-2017.
  • SHIZA *CAMERA ZOOMS OUT TO FOCUS ON SHIZA, BRIAN, AND THE WHITEBOARD*
  • Bee Endangerment: A Rising Threat to the Environment Causes: 1. Pesticides 2. Radio Waves
  • *LOOKS AT CAMERA* It’s important to care for these bees, as they are necessary for the production of several crops we rely on.  *LOOKS AT BRIAN* We have to consider the possible causes of this problem and extinguish them!
  • SHIZA *SCENE SWITCHES TO ZOOMED IN AUTOCAD DESIGN ON LAPTOP*
  • There’s no one definite cause for the death of bees, but to name a few plausible ones... *STARTS WRITING A LIST ON THE WHITEBOARD* … the use of pesticides can kill a bee. There is also a type of parasite that feeds on bees, resulting in their death. Additionally, radio waves that are emitted from common devices such as cellphones and TV sets can harm their navigational skills, resulting in the worker bees becoming lost.
  • Because queen bees and youth bees depend on the worker bees to get them food, they will starve and die, resulting in the whole colony collapse. Therefore, we need to somehow protect bees from these harmful waves. How are we going to do that when people rely on the devices that release these waves?
  • Maybe we can create a shelter that is specifically designed for bees that contain features to combat these causes of the issue. *POINTS AT SPECIFIC FEATURES ON THE DESIGN AS SHE SPEAKS* The sanctuary will be like a hollow glass prism that allows sunlight to come through. The sunlight will need to be visible because bees use the sun as a reference point when navigating. Shrouding this prism will be an EMI/RFI wave shield that allows light to pass through but blocks radio waves and absorbs it as heat.
