Henry Mayer owns a small farm on the Nebraska prarie. He moved here ten years ago with his first wife, Jane, who died in childbirth over two years ago. He recently remarried, this time to the daughter of his neighbor. His second wife is named Greta, and she is now pregnant with their first child together. From his first marriage Henry has three children and Greta has already adopted them as her own. The family is very close and loving, but disaster has struck the praries. Violent dust storms sweep across the plains, coating everything in a thick layer of dust. Rain is scarce, and Henry's crop is suffocating under the dust. The strain is causing stress and tension within the family but they will stick together and make it through this tough time.
