  • Mesoamerican life was really special back then, everyone believed in myths and they all believed in special gods. They were people of culture back then.
  • Also, in 1521 the Spanish went and conquered the Aztecs, and killed hundreds of them. Herman Cortez and the Spanish killed many Aztecs.
  • This war can relate to their independence, because they had a war for their independence. This shows that their willing to go to war for what they want That is how they got their independence.
  • From Apr 25, 1846 – Feb 2, 1848, U.S and mexico were at war because they were fighting for land, hundreds of them died, and Mexico ended up losing to the U.S
  • Also, in February 2,1848, the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was signed. It limits the boundaries of both of the countries, and where they can come and settle in. The treaty was signed in Guadalupe Hidalgo.

  • In Chicano culture, Aztlan is the name of the land that they lost to the U.S during the war. This is very important because this means a lot to chicano studies, and a lot of Aztecs migrated after they took over the land.
