One day, the rebellious Antony decides to leave his burrow and make his own way. "Make way! Make way! I can lift 100 times my weight!" he bellowed.
Antony comes across a squirrel. The squirrel sees Antony and laughs, "Haha, but you're the smallest thing in this forest! Can you even pick up my small apple?" Antony confidently tries to lift the apple. To his surpise, the apple almost runs him over! The squirrel scampers off giggling .
To hide his embarrassment, Antony wants to make himself a burrow to hide in. "This'll be easy without those other guys crowding my space!" After hours of grueling labor, Antony was tired. He turns around and discovers he barely made a dent in the ground much less a home! "Hmm, I kind of wish there were other ants to pick up my slack
Antony was wallowing in his little hole when he heard it. Ferocious noises coming out of the cave entrance!
*Grunt* *Sniff* ROAR
Even bigger animals were running from the roar of the forest beast. That was it for Antony. He ran as fast as his six legs could take him, back to his colony and original burrow.
Antony had learned a lot from this experience. He realized that he needed his colony and the ants who made him Antony. Individually, they were very small and weak compared to all the other animals, but together, they were stronger than any of them and could accomplish anthing. From then on, Antony had respect for the other ants. He demonstrated good citizenship and learned to be a contributing member of his colony.
