  • We should help the French! After all, they had helped us when we were in need! We know what is's like to fight for freedom!
  • We should NOT help the French! Our country is too new, and getting involved in this war would completely tear us apart!
  • Alexander Hamilton
  • Thomas Jefferson represented the Democratic Republicans
  • Sir, you'll have to choose between our plans!
  • Alexander Hamilton represented the Federalists
  • They got their support mainly from merchants and manufacturers, and beleived in a strong overall government
  • The wealthy and well educated run the country! We should follow Britain's example. A national bank and tariffs are great ideas.
  • Hamilton and Jefferson fight over their values and beliefs. They are both part of the Cabinet, which causes two parties in the Cabinet to form. The parties argued with each other and would try get their "plan" approved
  • Their support was from small farmers, craft workers, and some wealthy planters. They believed in strong state governments.

  • The Federalists They beleived that manufacturing, shipping, and trade should be encouraged. The Constitution does not need to be followed word by word,
  • The growth of cities are very important! The merchant class who helps make cities prosperous is important too!
  • Alexander Hamilton believed the U.S. should model itself on Britain and the government should encourage manufacturing and trade.
  • The Democratic Republicans They beleived that agriculture should be emphasized, and the Constitution should be strictly followed.
  • Thomas Jefferson His beliefs reflected the beliefs of the Democratic Republicans
  • Alexander Hamilton His beliefs often reflected those of the Federalists
