According to NASA, there are two types of the rockets that are used with testing and space travel. And they are model rockets and real rockets.
Model rockets are mainly used to help NASA test out their ships and see in they can fly so they're ready to test their acual rocket. When the model rocket is used, it goes up into the air to see if it flies and then they fire the rocket with a parachute, and it goes into the water.
Real rockets are when NASA does its thing. When the rockets are being used, they are sent to outer space to when NASA sends an astronaut to go to the moon or even a different planet.
