Storyboard Text

  • Hey Dylan, can we go outside to talk?
  • Yeah
  • So what's up?
  • Oh okay. Well we aren't worshiping these objects they are simply here to remind us of who we are praying about.
  • So when we were in church today I just felt like we shouldn't be praying to these paintings and the cross. We need to pray directly to God.
  • Okay, but I know who I'm praying to.
  • Look I get where your coming from, but back when this was a real problem people said they needed these things because they could not read and this would tell them about Jesus.
  • And the emperor at the time, Emperor Leo, said it was a sign from God that there should not be any paintings or anything like that.
  • So then people went and started destroying the things that ment so much to many. But it eventally stopped.
  • Not in the best way. When they were fighting over this a volcano erupted.
  • Then how did they resolve it?
  • Because people used them to guide their prayer. So when they got off track the picture would remind them what they are doing.
  • Also people would use it for history. An easy way to show history to people who couldn't read was to draw it out for them so they understood what happened.
  • And the painters would paint them to feel close to who they were painting. This would be their form of prayer.
  • But why is it so important to have these things?
  • No problem dude, I hope this helped. I'll see you later; me and Isabella are going to dinner.
  • Oh ok I get it now. Thanks so much Dylan.
  • It helped a lot. Have fun. God bless.
