You actually don't need an exam before you're married in this state!
A marriage license costs $40. The couple must present themselves in any town or city clerk in the state and both applicants sign in front of a town or city clerk. Licenses are valid for 60 calendar days.
All we need is some proof of age and you're all set!
The couple must get the license at least a day before the wedding and it could be waived by a judge. Copies can be found at the office or town or the city that the clerk who issued the license is from and it costs $10.

In NYS, you don't need an exam or blood test to get married. It's encouraged to wait until the individual is past the age of 17, but it is possible if both parents, or one if one parent is legally absent, of the individuals and the judge okay it.
In order to prove you're 18+, you need a photo ID, birth certificate, baptismal record, naturalization record and census record. To establish identity, the individual needs a driver's license, passport, employment picture ID and an immigration record. The marriage cannot be between any relatives.
Previous marriages between the individuals must be in the certificate and state whether the previous spouse died or divorced. Also, the individuals can keep each of their born surnames, one changes to the other spouses, or they can combine the names.
With an NYS license, the wedding must be in NY. A wedding must have an authorized public official witness the vows and an additional person as a witness. The authorized individual must fall under the guidelines of section 11 by the NYS Domestic Relations Law and must have registered in the City of NY.
