Three Skeleton Key
In George Toudouze story “The Three Skeleton Key”, rats attack the island lighthouse.. The three skeleton key starts of with the main character who comes back from his june shore leave. So now there are three lighthouse keepers including Le Glen and Itchwa. The three lighthouse men first spot a dutch ship in the distance that won’t turn away and when they notice that the crew is gone they think that they abandoned the ship. Then, they realized that the crew didn’t abandon the ship, but that they were eaten by rats. Later, the ship crashed on a set of rocks and all of the rats started to invade the island and climb all over the lighthouse. Reacting to the attack the lighthouse keepers locked all of the doors and windows. After a while the rights started to break through through the window. The lighthouse keepers were eventually stuck in the part of the lighthouse with the huge light without food or water. After days have past a ship comes when the light isn’t lit at night. The lighthouse keepers signaled the boat with the light.
The boat comes back filled with meat that leads the rats into the shark infested waters where they are eaten. The lighthouse keepers are finally rescued by the ship and are taken to a hospital where the rat bites will be treated. While at the hospital Le Gleos mind had gone completely mad and Itchoua had died from all of the rat bites. But as for the narrator, he was okay and decided to go back to his job at the lighthouse. In conclusion, you should always be prepared for something you might not always expect.
