Storyboard Text

  • We won!
  • Significance: This case has had a very strong impact on American history, yet is one that has been overlooked through the years. With the battle of whether citizens should own guns or not, it is still being discussed today what exactly the Framers meant in the Constitution. Many believe that the Founding Fathers were referring to possesing fire arms while on military services. Although, rest asured do to the outcome of this case, it is thought to be about owning guns in general. Back in 2008, Heller won the case with a 5-4 vote, being extremely close to losing but revolutionized the District of Columbia's lawmaker's way of thought. This now forced them to allow citizens to own firearms, without infringement as stated in the Constitution.
