John: I will not allow my name to be damaged, nor will I give you the names of other so called "witches".
Thomas Putnam accuses George Jacobs of witchcraft in the hopes of obtaining his land, once he is found guilty. In many cases, people would lie in Salem and wrongfully accuse others of witchcraft to get what they wanted.
Ann: All of my children are dead, but one and she is very sickly. You have killed my children through your use of witchcraft.
I am not a witch and I am not responsible for the death of your children. This accusation is madness.
Abigail confronts John about her love for him. John rejects the idea of them being in love because he is married to Elizabeth Proctor.
I desire more money for my position as Reverend of this town. My daughter was a victim of witchcraft, which could ruin my name and I could lose my power.
John Proctor chooses to be hung instead of confessing for his wrongdoings. He does this because the whole town will know of his mistakes. Also his name will be forever tarnished in the eyes of Salem.
I will rid this town of witchcraft and help the individuals who are consumed by it!
Ann Putnam wants her revenge on Rebecca Nurse because she believes that she used witchcraft to kill her kids. Nurse has kids and they are all healthy. Putnam accuses her of witchcraft and she is sentenced to be hung.
Reverend Parris wants more money paid to him for being Reverend of Salem and the church. He claims he is not paid enough for the things he does in the town.
Reverend Hale is considered an expert in battling witchcraft. He has been brought to the town to cure it of witchcraft. He believes that he can catch the witches and do whatever is necessary to get rid of them.
