On the first full moon of April, 563 BCE in Southern Nepal, the prince Siddhartha Guatama was born to the king, and all the riches that came with it.
Siddhartha Guatama was named the Buddha as a result of reaching Nirvana and because of his enlightening presence. Today, over 535 million people practice Buddhism, and millions more know about the life and inspirational story of Siddhartha Guatama the renouncer and the Buddha.
Siddhartha ran away from home to live a pure life and to try and find the cure for suffering. For six years he walked around, trying different ways to reach Nirvana.
