Educational Autobiography II: My 1st Year in College
I learned a lot about myself during my first year at UTRGV. I learned about ganas and time management. I also faced an obstacle that affected my academic performance.
Ganas was something I lacked throughout the year. I learned that ganas is not something that can be taught. It has to come from the student. My lack of ganas led to many mistakes, but I learned many things because of this. My mistakes made me want to improve as a student. I developed ganas.
Time management is essential for college. I learned that I was not managing my time properly. To fix this, I started using a planner and making daily to-do lists. This facilitated completing my assignments.
For a very long time, I felt like I didn't belong in college. I made myself believe that I wasn't good enough for this setting. I learned that this was called "Imposter Syndrome". Listening to other people's experiences with Imposter syndrome made me realize that it is normal to feel like this, especially during my first year. Anybody is capable of obtaining a degree. The resources are all available.
