  • Scout likes to play with Jem and Dill when Dill is there during the summer. Whenever Jem and Dill play, Scout feels ignored when they don't invite her so she always wants to try and play with them. When it is just Scout and Jem though they always play together.
  • Feisty
  • You can see here that Scout is a tom-boy because she wanted an air rifle for christmas and was so excited to use it when she got it. "He declined to let us take our air rifles to the landing" (Lee, 79).

  • Scout is feisty because when she heard her cousin call her dad a nigger-lover she punched him. "This time, I split my knuckle to the bone on his front teeth" (Lee, 84).
  • "nigger-lover..." (Lee, 84).
  • Scout is smart because she already knows how to read and write. Her teacher even said that she needs to tell her dad to stop teaching her.
  • "Now you tell your father not to teach you any more. It's best to begin reading with a fresh mind. You tell him I'll take over from here  and try to undo the damage" (Lee, 17).
