Steam Engines were first invented by Thomas Savery
John Newcomen who created the first practical steam engine which was used to drain water from the mines.
before the steam engine, people used the river to locate factories.
The rivers provided the power for the factories. Once the steam engines was invented factories could be located anywhere.
The steam engine allowed railrods to develop. This made land moving alot easier and quicker.
Even though there were a major growth with steam engines. it also caused pollution, and with new factories to be located there were more jobs in more cities which created child labor.
