On September 11, 2001 there was a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda on the U.S. Two of the hijacked planes were crashed into North and South towers of the World Trade Center in Manhattan, New York, the third crashed into the Pentagon in D.C. This was the deadliest terrorist attack in human history killing A total of 2996 people.
As a result of these terrorist attacks, on September 14, 2001 Bush declared a day of remembrance and stood on top of a pile of rubble at Ground Zero and said that the terrorists were responsible and will hear from America soon. Bush and his administration declared a war on terrorism, and the goal of bringing Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda to justice.
The No Child Left Behind Act was passed by U.S congress in 2001 and it reauthorized the Elementary and Secondary Education Act to provide for disadvantaged and disabled students. It included administering statewide standardized tests and free tutoring/ extra help in order to receive federal state funding.
Bush called for a global 'War on terror" after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.He called all world leaders to be 'with us or with the terrorists' and said the war will not be be over until every terrorist group of global reach has been found, stopped and defeated. He deployed many troops to Afghanistan and Pakistan order to end the terrorist group and find Osama Bin Laden.
