In the first section of the book, Montag was introduced as the main protagonist in which he encounters Clarisse. Thus leading to Clarisse giving Montag a new sense of himself and reality eliciting upcoming events dealing with the censorship of their society.
After Montags mal interaction with his wife Mildred, he finds Faber who helps him plan a way for the society to allow the usage of books by planting copious books in the firemen houses.
Iron and Rust
After Montag kills several people including Beatty, he is hunted by the mechanical hound and helicopters leading him to jumping in the river in Faber's clothing to avoid getting cop. As a nuclear bomb is dropped off in the censorship city, Montag encounters Granger and his collegues in which head back to Montag's city to search for survivers.
As Montag, Granger and his colleagues travel back to Montag's city, they acknowledge the damage of the nuclear bomb from miles away. All of them consider going back due to the amount of damage that was already discovered but Montag's thoughts traveled to Mildred and due to his routine of "loving" her, he convinced the group to continue their journey.
Montag and his group arrive at their destination only to realize that there was no possible way there cold have been survivors. Montag had to be dragged out of the city by his group as his loss of his wife allows for delusional decisions.
The group soon took shelter in a cavern as they discussed possible opportunities to start life again. However they had to move away from the city but collect books along the way as books can give them their foundation.
