  • Hercules and Iolaus, his nephew, went off to find the Lernean Hydra.
  • Hercules lured the Lernean Hydra out of it's den, then shot it with flaming arrows.
  • The Lernean Hydra wound one of its coils around Hercules' foot and made it impossible for him to escape. With his club, Hercules attacked the many heads of the Lernean Hydra.
  • When he smashed its head two more replaced the first one!
  • Iolaus held a torch to the headless part of the neck. The flames prevented the growth of replacement heads, and finally, Hercules had the better of the beast.
  • He buried at the side of the road and for good measure, he covered it with a heavy rock. For the rest of the hydra, Hercules slit open the corpse and dipped his arrows in the venomous blood.
