  • French colonists decided to settle in Canada and traded fur with the First Nations. They lived Quebec and Ontario and the nations that lived there became their partners. Although many of the nations were enemies. Even a war started with the Haudenosaunee, the French and their partners. The fighting obstructed the fur trading
  • The French made multiple treaties to stop the war, but the plan failed. In 1700 Louis-Hector deCallière, the governor of France. He decided that the only way to make peace was if the allies accepted it as well. A year later everyone had the message. Different ranked people came to represent their nation. There were supposed to be more people to attend but the flu broke out causing people to fall ill.
  • Kondiaronk, one of the representatives was a genius with an amazing imagination. he was a supporter for peace. Sadly he fell ill from the flu as well. He was honoured with a grand funeral and procession. The terms of the treaty show many beliefs shared by parties that signed it. When the charter was introduced in 1982 it gave the first Nations the opportunity to have rights and freedoms.
