It's incredibly beneficial to your health. Even at a slow jog, your body will burn at least 10 calories per minute, and it conditions your heart to pump more strongly and efficiently, meaning that your body makes better use of the oxygen in your blood with each heart beat.
And running goes even further than improving just your physical health! A December 2012 study published in Psychonomic Bulletin & Review provided evidence that regular exercise helps defeat age- related mental decline. (Just another reason to go out for your daily run.)
In fact, it can be so rewarding that the term "runner's high" has been coined to describe the feeling of euphoria or release of anxiety that people feel when running.
