Turkish Sultan Abdul Hamid II was obsessed with his hatred for the Armenians after they were proved to be more loyal to Christian governments and started a campaign for basic rights.
Taking the Armenians down
Between 1894 and 1896, this “box on the ear” took place. In response, the Armenians responded with protests. Turkish military officials, soldiers and ordinary men sacked Armenian villages and cities and massacred their citizens
The sultan soon .got overturned by a government called young Turks. On April 24, 1915, the Armenian genocide began. They forced the Armenian families out their homes and into a death march through the Mesopotamian desert without food or water.
The Young Turks created specialized groups (Killing groups) that had murders and ex-convicts that carried out the massacre of the Armenia people.
After the Ottomans surrendered in 1918, the leaders of the Young Turks fled to Germany, which promised not to prosecute them for the genocide.
Since then the Turkish government refuses to admit that the Armenian genocide even happened. But the Armenians continue to fight and protest about it.
