Dolores Huerta was a twice married, mother of eleven
Huerta had a good education but despite her achievements, she faced racism and discrimination
After being a witness of all the hate towards Mexican Americans and the living conditions of farm workers, she decided to take a stand. In 1960, Dolores Huerta started the Agricultural workers association (AWA)
During her time in the Agricultural Workers Association, she met Cesar Chavez and they worked together to create the UFW (United Farm Workers)
After all her work, she was able to help farmworkers get decent wages and better living conditions. In 1993, Huerta received the Ellis Island Medal of Freedom Award and was put in the National Women's Hall of Fame
