We wandered for a long time, with breaks, and I took the most beautiful pictures in the world. There were so many different kinds of animals, from a delicate butterfly to a cute monkey. The whole journey was an adventure as we encountered lots of animals. But since the land was very bumpy and had very different terrains someone had to hurt themselves. I was walking when I tripped over something that looked like a vine, in was only a minor cut. A short moment after we decided to go back to our cave/ tent thing. The problem was getting back, it was already about 6 pm there and we wanted to get back before sunset.
We start to head east hoping that we would get back to the tent, but it felt like we're going in circles. An hour or two goes by and I feel like giving up, we eventually stop walking and set up an emergency tent in a random spot. All of the sudden a bunch on animals and insects run past us like their playing tag. The sky was foggy and we couldn't see things from far away, we went inside the tent where we felt safe. Rustling leaves and twigs snapping came from outside, I thought "If I go to sleep nothing will hurt me." Then Jeremy said, "I'm going to check out whats going on out there." In my head I thought, " Are you serious? Wow, you don't have to act all heroic. But its your choice"
Jeremy left the tent, I could hear him breathing heavily as he was out there. I expected him to come back into the tent after at least 2 minuets. 15 minuets pass by; I was starting to think of the worst things that could've possibly happened to him. "Did he take a leak? Is in danger? Did the monster that the ranger talked about get him?" I was getting impatient after 20 minuets, so I went outside to look for him. I brought with me a warm blanket and a flashlight. After all the movies that I've seen I knew this was the point when someone either went missing or was killed. I started to call out for Jeremy, and there was no answer. Since Jeremy liked to play pranks on me I assumed that this was another one . "Dude this isn't funny anymore!" Still no answer from him.
Now I'm wandering though the trees and I see footprints. There was a prickly bush where the footprints ended. I pushed it to the side and found him sitting there, he had a weird expression on his face. It was a mix of fear and excitement. I asked him, "What's wrong?" He didn't even say anything, all he did was stare at me as if I was a ghost. I inspect the area around us and try to figure out what happened to Jeremy by myself. I find a weird track on the ground and follow it into a luminous cave, there was a stench that was so foul that it made my eyes water. In this cave there was a humongous bird like nest; the nest had bones that were human-like.
As explore the rest of the cave I find things that were very unpleasant, for example I found the bathroom area. But when I looked in the other corner I saw big, vivid, green eyes. The thing approached me, as it was getting closer I started to back up. Finally I saw the creature, the moonlight lit its body. It was a grey lion with spiky scale looking things all over its body. The animal was kind of majestic in a way, but my initial reaction was to run. This animal roared with all its might in my face, its teeth were very sharp and pointy which were terrifying. I didn't know what to do so I started to run, I ran as fast as I could and my sides were aching.
I run and run but I feel like I'm not getting anywhere, I look behind me and see that the lion apparently has wings. I turn back around and try to hide from this hovering creature, I find a bush and without thinking I jump into it. The bush was filled with cactus like thorns and I let out a little yelp, but I instantly quieted myself because the lion had landed right near me. Its huge paws were stomping all over the place, it felt as if it was searching, searching for me. I try to be as quiet as possible, the beast came across the bush that I was at. It spent a long time sniffing and peering into my hiding spot, I couldn't wait anymore. I thought about my options, I didn't have a lot of them, either try to fight it or wait it out. I decided on the second option.
