Sergio is the captain of his varsity soccer team. His team has made it to the county finals with an undefeated record.College scouts from around the country are watching. He has scored 23 goals in the past 8 games so the pressure is on him. He is an amazing soccer player, but he is nervous, and doesn't want that to affect him in the game.
Sergio scored 1 goal in the fist half. In the second half, Sergio went to take a shot, but was slide tackled from the back. His shot was perfect and went in straight in the upper right corner. Sergio has put his team in the lead 2-1. However, Sergio is on the ground, crying and screaming.
Sergio's dad rushes him to the hospital. The doctor walks in and gives them terrible news. Sergio can never play soccer again.
Sergio's dad gets phone calls from 13 different colleges that were offering him full scholarships. Now that he is injured, they have canceled their offers. Sergio's dreams of playing college soccer are crushed.
Sergio couldn't sleep all night. Knowing that his life would never be the same he didn't know what he was gonna do with his life. Now that he can't play soccer, he knows he has to move on but he can't stop thinking about the game. He spends the night trying to walk and hopelessly trying to come up with solutions. Although he knew that he couldn't play soccer anymore, that night made it clear to him that his 11 years of hard work is gone.
Sergio's younger brother Juan is in 3rd grade and loves to play soccer. He wants to be just like Sergio. Since Sergio got hurt, seeing Juan play soccer is the first time that he felt happy again. He realizes that soccer really isn't gone from his life. Then Sergio tells himself that he is gonna train Juan to be the best soccer player in the world.
