After Odysseus returned from the nine year conflict in Troy, on the journey back from Troy Odysseus and his shipmates stopped by an island to rest, they found a huge goat pen outside a cave and, inside, all the cheeses and meat they could desire, as they started to cook some of the goat a cyclops came inside the cave his name was Polyphemus, he blocked of the entrance to the cave with a giant stone and ate 2 of Odysseus’s men, after another day in the cave Odysseus came up with a plan to escape first he got the cyclops drunk with some wine he brought from his journey and the cyclops fell asleep after he got drunk so Odysseus and his men got a pole with a sharp end on and thrusted it into the cyclops eye witch had blinded him after that he rolled out the boulder to let his sheep go out and blocked the entrance himself so that the greeks could not escape but they did hiding in the sheep flock they got out and got on here ship and rowed out of the island.
Ancient Civilizations had myths so that they could how they came to be and have stories that have crucial information about their Civilization like their gods or whatever they believed in like in Ancient Greece they had lots of myths like The Odyssey, medusa, Troy and lots of other things these all had some story that had to got with them and it would explain how it was important to that ancient civilization also some myths were just about events like wars or other things which were important in the eyes of what ever civilization had it in their myths.
