Lakshmi's mother climbed out her window of her house in Colombo under the moonlight for the man that she loved who turned out to be a jerk after they got married and lived in a little village in Sangra and had Lakshmi alone as her companion after her husband left.
Lakshmi was her only child and she loved her fondly that she would searched the village for Lakshmi so she could feed her with her own hand while she was playing with her village friends. She raised and took care of her perfectly.
One day, her mother had accepted a marriage proposal for Lakshmi which was believed had been proposed by a person who has a better caste than they are and lived in a rich land called Malaya. Her mother did not want Lakshmi ended up to be like her.
After Lakshmi get married with a 37 year old widower who was thought rich, happened to be not. All that she imagined and was told by Auntie Pani was a lie. However Lakshmi accepted it whole heartedly as she did not want her mother to be worried.
After Lakshmi had knew every single thing about her actual husband's background, she got uneasy when her husband lent the money and gave her presents whenever after he got back from work. Hence, she decided to get her own money and do whatever she could to pay the bills to avoid her husband from borrowing any money.
After 5 years of marriage, Lakshmi and Ayah were given 6 children of her own. Despite living poorly, she managed to raised all of her children due to her hardworking and commitment. Lakshmi also had a unfortunate bestfriend who lives on her neighborhood named Mui Tsai had been use by her master, Old Soong.
