Storyboard Text

  • "A Shocking Accident" Graham Greene
  • Elizabeth Garcia 3rd Period May 1, 2018
  • The main character's name is Jerome. His father died rather comedically. This event shaped Jerome's childhood and affected how he socializes with people. This event also affected Jerome's personal life.
  • The story takes place in Britain in the early 1900s. One event that takes place is the death of Jerome's father. He was walking casually down the street when a pig falls from a balcony and kills him. Another event that happens is that Jerome is engaged to Sally.
  • The main conflict is that Jerome is engaged to Sally but he has not told her the comedic death of his father. He is taking her to meet his aunt. Jerome is afraid that she will bring up his death, and he does not want Sally to laugh.
  • Sally asks Jerome's aunt how his father died. Jerome is very nervous while his aunt is telling the story. Sally reacts perfectly, which means she did not laugh.
  • I think the theme is the absurdity of death. Jerome’s father, who was walking down the streets of Naples, was killed by a pig falling from a balcony. This lesson was very meaningful. It showed me that everything happens for a reason.
