  • What is Displacement reaction?
  • Copper
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Aluminium
  • Zinc
  • Magnesium
  • Iron
  • Lead
  • Most reactive
  • Least reactive
  • A displacement reaction will take place when a more reactive metal displaces a less reactive metal form its compound.Displacement reactions will not occur if both metals are of equal reactivity.
  • This is a simple reactivity table. It's very useful to see which is the most/least reactive.
  • The blue substance is a representation of magnesium. It is being added to 4 different compounds
  • Sodium hydroxide and calcium hydroxide(the purple and red) are more reactive than magnesium a displacement reaction did not occur.
  • Copper and lead hydroxide are less reactive than magnesuim so they got displaced
  • Though if copper was added to magnesium hydroxide a displacement reaction won't occur. This Is because copper can not take place in magnesiums place
