Storyboard Text

  • 'Come, Friar Francis, be brief: only to the plain form of marriage.'
  • 'You come hither, my lord, to marry this lady?'
  • 'To be married to her, Friar! You come to marry her.'
  • 'No.'
  • As Hero came down the aisle with proud Leonato, Claudio couldn't hide his disgusted face when he saw her.
  • 'There, Leonato, take her back again: Give not this rotten orange to your friend; She's but the sign and semblance of her honour.
  • The friar asks Claudio whether he came here to marry Hero.
  • 'What man was he talk'd with you yesternight Out at your window betwixt twelve and one?'
  • However, Claudio says no. So, in quick defence, Leonato points out that Claudio will be married to her because the Friar marries them.
  • 'Cry shame upon her? Could she here deny The story that is printed in her blood?' Do not live, Hero; do not open thine eyes.'
  • Not wanting to marry Hero, Claudio starts yelling at her, thinking that she cheated on him, and in shock, she fainted!
  • In an anger, Claudio storms off, with Beatrice gently tending to her poor cousin and Leonato trying to stop Claudio from leaving.
  • With Claudio gone, Leonato is unsure who to believe but ends up believing Claudio, trusting him over his own daughter. However, Beatrice believed from the start that Hero was innocent.
