The rising action includes when Terry has a flashback to the day his dad lost his eyes and started whimpering in the middle of the hardware store.

The conflict in this story is Terry against his father, but also with himself. Terry fights himself about confronting his father about his experience during the Vietnam War. He also fights his father because he is embarrassed and very curious about his experience.
